Over on Artisticfingers, Anita is teaching us how to do Chikan Embroidery. Below are the first two lessons.
I don't know the name of the muslin I used. I know it is a cotton muslin, but don't know who made it. I used DMC floss and used the number of strands that was told to use in the lesson.
I almost forgot to get a picture of lesson 1, that is why that little part , chain stitch is in the first photo.
All the tear drops were done in the double back stitch.(Bakhya; Bakhiya or Bakhia in Indian)
I really like how doing the double chain stitch , makes the closed herringbone stitch. That's too cool!
And here is the photo after Lesson 2. Lesson 2 we done chain stitch, ( Janjira in Indian) and stem stitch ( Rahet in Indian) . I am trying to learn the Indian names of these embroidery stitches. I also noticed that it looked as if it was Trapunto after I done the double back stitch. Is that normal or did I pull the threads too tight?
I hope Anita will critique my stitching. I know that honest critique will only improve my stitching.
