Inspiration Block

In one of my groups I belong we started what is called CQ A-Z Study. Below is the block I made for this project. I have always wanted to be able to make a balanced block. So I chose for my theme Victorian. So I copied on paper the motifs I wanted to put on this block and put them where I want them to be. So below is what I've gotten done so far.

I thought since I would be doing some goldwork on this block that I would add some gold colored sequins and beads to kind of highlight the center of the flower on the lace.
Then I used Krenik Japanese Gold thread to make the spider web. I couched the gold with Krenik Cord. I will be adding some leaves and flowers along the top and sides of the web. I am working on the spider going to try to make my first stumpwork spider. We will see how that turns out.

I think this is very interesting. Did you use any books for this? What happened when everyone was done or is your group finished with the study?

Thanks Susan and Icia!
The paisley is from a class I took with Carole Samples. The Victorian lady, key, pansies, and spider web and spider are out of the book Motifs for Crazy Quilting by J. Marsha Michler.
We are still working on the CQ study Icia. We have all information in the files if you would like to join the group I can give you a link to where you can join and learn too!

Icia, at the top right hand corner of my blog click on the join CQInternational button. Once you have joined that group you can then become a member of the CQINovice group. That is the group that is doing the study. But you have to join the main group before you can join that one.

Thelma, love your needlework. The spiderweb is great, and particularly like the beautiful lace you have used beside it.

Thelma, your inspiration block is coming along beautifully!! I really like the spider web, it adds so much to the richness of the piece, and the spider is wonderful. I'm really enjoying being able to see your progress on this very special block.
