Got my second heart done today. I used a printed fabric that I had of different lighthouses from around the world. I used metallic thread and done the feather stitch upside down to represent lightning bolts. I couched a #5 pink perle cotton for the inner and outer border of the pasley and then beaded inside that. I done the spider roses for the inside of the pasley. On the other side I couched #5 perle cotton for the branch and then used a straight stitch for the ribbon flowers, then I finished it with beads. I used metallic thread in a chain stitch around the heart.
This heart is being sent to my friend Maureen who lives in Australia. Her 7 yr. old granddaughter's friend Maddie has been diagnosed with cancer. She is facing 6 months of treatments. Maureen is swapping hearts with us, and she plans on making a quilt for Maddie.
This heart carries a very special message to Maddie. The lighthouse represents Jesus. He wants Maddie to know that He is there to help her through the storms of life that she is going through. He wants her to know that He is there to help calm these storms. He sees her tears (the pasley is shaped like a tear) and he feels her pain. He wants her to know that the roses inside the pasley represents His LOVE for her. He wants her to remember He will be with her every step of the way.
Maddie, our prayers are with you!!!

Thank you Mary ! I first done one side of feather stitching the right way, and my husband told me, you need to turn them around, Lightning doesn't strike that way. (g) So I took those stitches and decided to use the metallic thread. I was very pleased with the results.
Thank you Terri,
Please do keep little Maddie in your prayers. Last report I heard is that she has lost quite a bit of weight.
