Sumptious Surface with Sharon Boggin

This has been a great learning experience Sharon. I hope you can see the picture good. I may need to try to take the pic again and see if I can get a better shot. I chose to do the pulled double back stitch on the flag. I done the pulled cretan stitch around the soldier. I used perle #8 for the soldier and the rifle was done in silk thread, two strands. The praying hands were done in #5 and #12 perle. Now I think I have a mental block, (g) what high texture stitches to do. Any suggestions? The part of the flag where the stars go will be filled with spacers with beads on top. I will probably fill in any gaps with french knots. I have read lesson 4 and can't wait to get to that point. I was going to put this on the backburner and try something more simpler but we had very sad news on July 15th. As you know my son will be going back to Iraq soon, one of his buddies had voluntered to go back with the 142nd and was killed by his hummer hitting an IED. He died on my son's birthday. He took it pretty hard. So I am determined to finish this piece in memory of Sgt. Massey and the many men and women who are defending our freedom.
